Tall, strong, dark-tousled blooms.
Glossy, deep chocolate maroon flowers. Hollyhock 'Nigra' is a modern twist to a cottage garden style.
Hollyhock 'Nigra' is a biennial or short-lived perennial that adds impressive height and structure to borders. This vigorous plant produces tall, sturdy spikes of single, funnel-shaped flowers in a deep black-chocolate hue, with bright buttery-yellow throats.
Hollyhocks are a biennial that is native to Turkey and other regions of Asia. However, the Hollyhock that was introduced to Britain in 1573, and the variety that we are most familiar with, is believed to have been brought from China via Palestine.
